Importance of detection of Protein p53 in Carcinoids of the Gastrointestinal Tract

Abstract

The aim of the study was to detect the expression of p53 in cells of human gastrointestinal carcinoid tumours. Higher accumulation of p53 was observed especially in atypical carcinoids.

This finding can be related to higher malignant potential of these tumours.
