Abstract

The goal of the 3-months follow-up study was to investigate the influence of the group family psychoeducational program on the quality of life of the participants with the SQUALA questionnaire (Subjective Quality of Life Analysis). Twenty five patients and 42 relatives were randomly assigned to the two types of psychoeducational program. The time schedule of the programs was different, there were no differences in the content.

While the quality of life in the relatives remained stable over the three months, the patients were significantly more satisfied with the domains PHYSICAL AUTONOMY, MENTAL WELL-BEING and FAMILY after the program. These results indicate that family psychoeducational programs contribute to the improvement in patients' quality of life.
