Recommendations for omega-3 fatty acids intake

Abstract

The author describes in the submitted review the dietary recommendations for n-3 fatty acids, dietary sources and effects of n-3 fatty acids in organism. Omega-3 fatty acids have antiarrhythmic, antithrombotic and anti-inflammatory effects.

These fatty acids decrease triglyceride and blood pressure, improve vascular endothelian cell function and reduce vasoconstriction. The author comments other health benefits of fish consumption and risk of dietary methylmercury exposure from fish.
