Abstract

Association between personality traits and life satisfaction of institutionalized elder women explicated by the path model was tested using data from 308 subjects average age 74,7, SD= 7,8. Hypotheses of emotional instability effect on variability of life satisfaction mediated by variability of depression, and effect of extraversion on life satisfaction mediated by anticipated social support, resignation and depression were put to test using structural equation modeling.

Secondary aim of the research was monitoring of relationship between life satisfaction and personality trait in the course of time. Data collected in three waves separated by 10 months brought support for validity and stability of the model.
