Abstract

Limitation of application of uterine activity with tokolytickým effect is effective for a limited, relatively short period of time. Tocolysis is intended only to provide transportation to maternal and perinatal center acquisition time required for administration of corticosteroids for acceleration of fetal lung maturity.

The so-called maintenance tocolysis is ineffective, as well as long-term hospitalization and bed rest. This has still not often used in practice should be abandoned as an ineffective, costly and unnecessary.

The key issue is the prediction of women who are really threatened preterm labor. Symptoms of preterm labor are nonspecific or absent.

Promising research is predictive factors of premature birth. The discovery of application-specific assay predicting risk of preterm birth are still waiting.

Putting into practice and focus on a group of high-risk population is a prerequisite for more effective comprehensive perinatal care of preterm laboring women.
