Abstract

The book deals with the sociological analysis of the medical profession and examines the social role of the doctor / physician in terms of cultural changes. It deals with, inter alia, the question of what the consequences for the medical profession transformation of modern society in late modern or postmodern.

Have structured the thesis of a comparable range of theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is based on the known sociological concepts (Parsons, Freidson, Illich) and discusses them.

The empirical part focuses on identifying young physicians with the role of "female" aspects of the medical profession and the changing medical culture in the Czech past decades. In the empirical part is based on the author's own research projects have been implemented in 2000-2004 on the socio-occupational problems of graduates of medical faculties in the Czech healthcare system and the sociological changes in the medical profession.
