Abstract

Prolactin (PRL) is a hormone produced by pituitary gland but can act also as cytokine when produced by extrapituitary tissues such as lymphocytes. The role of PRL in pathogenesis of systemic autoimmune diseases has been proved.

In this work we studied functional -1149 G/T SNP of the prolactin extrapituitary promoter in 83 patients suffering from psoriatic arthritis (PsA). -1149 G/T SNP of PRL extrapituitary promoter was not found to be associated with PsA and its clinical characteristics.
