Long-term changes in body weight, BMI, and adiposity rebound among children and adolescents in the Czech republic

Abstract

While obesity rates among children and adolescents in the Czech Republic have been previously relative low, this has changed in recent years. The most dramatic changes have been observed among school-aged children, where BMI values have increased at the 50th, 90th and 97th percentiles.

Our findings suggest that the secular trend of increased height, accelerated growth and earlier maturation is responsible for Czech children experiencing adiposity rebound at earlier ages compared to the past
