Publication at Third Faculty of Medicine |
2007

Abstract

The review includes discussion of the characteristics and sources of procedural pain, factors influencing pain perception, practical errors in approaching pain, and consequences of its insufficient suppression, as well as the proper diagnosis and the rules of successful pain management. Attention is also given to both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic preparation for painful procedures and the treatment of resulting pain.

A brief inventory of analgesic medications used in pain suppression, sedation and anesthesia is provided.
