Spatial analysis of vascular corrosion casts to investigate the architectonic arrangement of the Vasa Vasorum of the human great saphenous vein in normal and pathological conditions

Abstrakt
To investigate the great saphenous vein's (GSV) viability when used as an in-situ by-pass graft in different surgical procedures on the lower extremities or as an autologous prosthesis for aorto-coronary by-pass grafting and to study the role of an increase of Vasa Vasorum (VV) as a possible factor for varicogenesis we analyzed the architectonic arrangement of the VV by a combination of several morphological methods, namely microdissection, India-Ink injection, histology, vascular corrosion casting, and Dmorphometry.
