Neromodulation techniques in regard of interventional radiologist

Publication at Third Faculty of Medicine |

Abstract

The authors describe some aspects of implantation of neurostimulation electrodes among patients with painful syndromes of their back and limbs from the viewpoint of an intervention radiologist. The implantation of neurostimulation electrodes is conducted by a team composed of an algesiologist, an intervention radiologist, an operating-room nurse, a nurse and a radiological assistant at the operating room under rigorous aseptic conditions.

In local anaesthesia, the algesiologist carries out puncture of epidural space with a 15 G needle, whereas an intervention radiologist subsequently introduces an electrode into the back epidural space as close to the medium line as possible with a view to covering the pain of the back and limbs
