Syndrom of obstructivew defecation by STARR technique with posterior colporrhaphy and levatorplasty

Publication at Third Faculty of Medicine |
2008

Abstract

The authors evaluate the benefit of a combined surgical procedure of posterior colporrhaphy and STARR resection for solving obstructive defecation. The examination algorithm included classification of subjective problems by means of obstructive defecation syndrome (ODS) score, sonography and anal sphincter manometry and defecography examination.

The surgical procedure was always preceded by minimum one month of rehabilitation with modification of dietary regime. The medium-term results (mean follow-up period of 1.9 years) are fully comparable to other methods.

The postoperative morbidity was 21 %. Failure of the method was observed in 2 cases.
