Abstract

The use of ultrasound in infertility management is now a routine practice, which aims to not only monitor the stimulated cycle, diagnose ovulation, assess overall ovarian reserve, but also causes of sterility existing in some pelvic pathologies. For some diagnoses regarding female sterility, such as polycystic ovaries syndrome (PCO), endometrial polyps, uterus congenital abnormalities, acute or chronic oviduct diseases or traumatic amenorrhea (Ashermann's syndrome) ultrasound examination remains a fundamental method.

Also, the collection of oocytes and embryo transfer carried out under ultrasound control optimize conditions of IVF treatment and subsequently increase the chances for successful embryo implantation and following pregnancy.
