Impaired activities of daily living (ADL) are associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other dementias. Although the prevalence of AD in a population is high, the disease is still poorly recognized.
In addition to testing of cognitive functions one should focus on the assessment of ADL in clinical practice. Questionnaire method is one appropriate option of the many different approaches.
This work describes the characteristics of an eligible ADL questionnaire. It also provides overview of 15 internationally used ADL questionnaires, which can be used in patients with dementia.
