Infections of cardiac implantable electronic devices and their prevention

Abstract

The last quarter of the past century has seen exponential growth in implantable electronic device use. The rate of infection after implantation of these devices is low, but clinically important.

Appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are necessary for proper management of these complications.
