Photoselective vaporization of prostate in benign prostatic hyperplasia therapy

Abstract

Aim of this publication is to summarize information about photoselective vaporization of prostate (PVP). PVP improves significantly symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Complication rate of PVP is lower than complications rate of transurethral resection of prostate (TURP). Time of catheterization and hospitalization after PVP is shorter than after TURP.

Long term results of PVP are not available yet. Short and mid-term resulrs of PVP and TURP are comparable, complication rate of PVP is lower
