QEEG prefrontal cordance in the prediction of response to treatment in mood disorders

Publication |
2011

Abstract

The authors briefly commented contemporary knowledge about prediction of response to antidepressant treatment. Their own studies evaluating the role of prefrontal cordance in the prediction of response in patients with unipolar, as well as bipolar, depression were reviewed.

Pooled analysis of studies (n = 100) evaluating the reduction of cordance at week 1 as a predictor of response to 4-week treatment yielded positive and negative predictive values of 0.68 and 0.95, respectively. The future goals of research in the field of neurophysiologic prediction of treatment response are discussed in the final part of the article
