Update recommendation of NIPH on phosphates use in water treatment

Abstract

Use of phosphates for drinking water treatment is relating to certain hygienic risks, which are highlighted in the position presented. Based on recent research one new risk has been identified: the form of phosphates (ortho or poly) is the key factor if water distributed will increase or decrease plumbosolvation (leaching of lead from old lead pipes).
