Abstract

Flu (lat. influenza) is an acute viral disease most troublesome in elderly and polymorbid patients. Nevertheless, it affects all age categories.

In spite of currently available vaccination, we are still facing continuously changing virus, that causes annual outbreaks, or even, less frequently, pandemic. Broad administration of selective antivirals (i.e. oseltamivir, zanamivir, or amantadin) possesses several limitations, thus symptomatic therapy still plays the most important role in the treatment
