What modern pharmacology learned from the Incas

Abstract

Pharmacotherapeutical possibilities available to modern medicine have seen immense developments, during the last decades. The aim of this article is to present the most commonly used medicinal plants in Peru and Bolivia, which contain active substances that are either used by modern medicine or have a potential to be used in such a way.

The choice of plants is based on the authors' own experience and on mapping their usage directly in the region
