Abstract

The article is devoted to physiology and pathophysiology of muscle pain. This is an area that is currently being developed because people are becoming concerned about their physical activity.

The top sports performance with muscle activity and therefore muscle pain has an increasing interest not only of researchers and algesiologists, but also coaches and sports people who are trying to increase athletic performance. The article discusses the underlying factors related to pain perception in musces.

Nocisensors are described and their basic properties, as well as their reactions to various substances that act on their receptors. It is paid attention to the transferred muscle pain. another important issue is the pathology of muscle pain and its possibilities.

They are especially myocytopatia and myalgia and myofascial pain syndrome. Another part of the article concerns the vertebrogenic pain arising from muscle damage.

It is also discussed the treatment of muscle pain.The important place has fibromyalgia, which one part is muscle pain. They are emphasized neurochemical mediators of muscle pain and their possible interactions that are essential for the perception of pain
