Abstract

We tested DNA isolated from brain tissue and peripheral blood leucocytes of subjects with FAD. Comparative study included 12 subjects with FAD (DNA isolated from 4 brain areas: frontal, parietal and temporal lobes, and from hippocampus).

These subjects had onset of the disease between ages 40 and 60. A second group included 11 individuals with first signs of AD after the age of 60.

Genetic variability of the locus D14S43 was compared with a control sample (23 subjects older than 90 years) with no history of AD.
