Abstract
Diabetes mellitus was identified as one of risk factors of sudden cardiac death. Besides in addition to ischemic heart disease some specific complications of diabetes mellitus increase the risk of sudden cardiac death, especially diabetic cardiomyopathy and diabetic autonomic neuropathy.
Strict compensation of diabetes mellitus could assist in the decrease of incidence of sudden cardiac death, primarily in patients with high individual risk of ventricular arrhytmias.
