Abstract

The intensity of muscle activity and the way of individual muscle activation is during exercise performance influenced by particular initial position, respectively by movement progression. This fact s generally accepted but not in the practice.

The basic exercises as press- ups are may be performed in different ways – hands turned forward or turn inside, hands in wide or narrow position etc. The electromyographical analysis of different press-up techniques has proved significant differences in EMG activity of trapesius and pectoralis muscles at individual portions.

These findings could determine choice of press-ups technique which is aimed into its purposeful application.
