Dependence of surface plasmon absorption spectra of interfacial Ag colloid-1-alkanethiol films on length of alkyl chain

Abstract

The wavelength of the maximum of the surface plasmon absorption spectra of Ag colloid-1-alkanethiol films was found to decreases systematically with the increasing length of the alkyl chain. The dependence results from the decrease in the dipol-dipol copling between particles.
