Abstract
In the world of commonly used electronic portfolios into domestic school environment is very difficult to get. Prevents them many important factors, including, in particular the licensing policies of software products, implementation and subsequent administration.
This aspect can be decisive. Solution systems may be developed on the basis of the so-called open source code.
One of them is the Mahara project, which was supported by the New Zealand government. Now that, unlike the other characterized by its simplicity and effectiveness, and so was this year deployed in a publicly accessible portal UMÍM.TO (www.umim.to).
The contribution briefly describes the system and refers to specific Mahara its possible use in the field of education and prospects of its further development.
