Abstrakt
The paper presents the main phases in the process of devising a measuring instrument for testing the perception of the English mid-central vowel schwa including the preliminary results obtained in the first piloting. The final version of the test aims at providing valid and reliable data for doctoral research, the general focus of which is the effectiveness of teaching pronunciation.
