Economy-wide material flow indicators for the Czech Republic for 1990-2002. Results of the R and D projects of the Czech Ministry of the Environment.

Abstrakt

Paper describes the application of economy-wide material flow analysis to the economy of the Czech Republic. Relevant indicators are derived on the basis of accounts and balances of material flows compiled for the Czech Republic for 1990-2002.The results show that indicators of material flows decreased during the period analysed by approximately 30-50%.It is demonstrated that also material intensity and DPO and TDP share in GDP decreased significantly.

Finally the reasons for recorded decrease of material flow indicators are discussed.
