Abstract
The Czech Government has claimed the support of cycling transport through its resolution ratified on the 7th July 2004 n. 678 on the National Cycling Development Strategy (hereinafter "the Cycling Strategy"). Among other objectives, the Cycling Strategy set up the following specific goal: 1.4. "Strengthen the research, education and training activities for support of bicycle use".
The objective is to include the research into the process of bicycle transport development, to transfer the international best practices, to implement suitable measures, to inform progressively on research findings and support the related training and educational programs. The article is focused on presentation of the research project "Analysis of needs and priorities in construction of cycling infrastructure in the Czech Republic" and the research project called "Sustainable transport - a chance for our future, phase 3.1.4. "Cycling in urban areas".
