A model of the colony growth of a bacillus is presented. The intrinsic model simulates the formation of a colony by random walk of optional length of its elements.
The colony consists of long or filamentous rods which after division remain at an angle to each other leading to a rugged appearance of the edges of the colony. The appearance of the colony is determined by major parameters of the model, such as the number of living cells and the extent of previous occupation of the area where a new cell is to be placed.
With suitable parameters selected the model gives an object which is very similar to a colony of a acillus including formation of the shrub-like sectors which are formed in an old colony. The choice of parameters simulates different growth conditions and cell morphology.
