Meaning in life, well-being, and health

Abstract

Expected relationship among experienced life meaningfulness, experienced well-being, and self-rated objective health has been subject to statistical evaluation using the Logo-test (a life meaningfulness questionnaire by E. S.

Lukas), Dep36 (a subjective emotional reactivity questionnaire by J. Kozeny), and Health rating (objective health self-evaluation scale by the author) in a sample of 353 undergraduate and graduate level Czech university students.

Through correlational analysis of the data, the hypotheses, deduced from the theoretical frame of V. Frankl's existential analysis, of an unequivocal functional relationship between experienced meaningfulness and well-being and of two mutually contrary functional relationships between experienced meaningfulness and objective health are supported.
