Urinary incontinence means any involuntary leakage of urine. This is a very common problem that can affect children, women and men at any age and significantly negatively affect their quality of life.
While in children under 6 years of age bedwetting is considered to be a consequence of the immaturity of the central nervous system (CNS) and therefore a natural phenomenon, in adolescents and adults any type of urinary incontinence is considered a pathological condition. It can be manifested, for example, by sudden leaks of urine during coughing, laughing, movement, etc., or as a compulsion to urinate that is so strong that it is impossible to get to the toilet in time.
The amount of leakage varies from occasional, tiny leaks of a few drops of urine to complete loss of control and constant uncontrollable urination.
