Abstract

Clinical signs and typical symptoms are described in poisonings with different agents, such as chemicals, mushrooms, snakes, illegal drugs, and pharmaceuticals (especially antidepressives, antihypertensives, analgetics and non-steroidal antirevmatics). The part concerning chemicals involves lead, mercury, cyanides, methemoglobinizing chemicals, and pesticides.

Management of these poisonings is given, from the first aid till the introduction of antidotes, where appropriate. The focus is on the indications of antidotest and the principles of treatment of the poisonings.
