Commentary summarizes the up-to-date knowledge of modified tubularized transverse preputial island flap in hypospadias patients with missing segment of the urethral plate. This modification enables more precise performance of suture lines and prevents neourethral stricture formation that is frequent in the conventional tubularized flaps.
Author points out to his original article that brought not only the present, but also other modifications and that has been repeatedly quoted in the literature. He mentions the long-term published data about this modification which are comparable with very successful onlay island flap urethroplasty.
