Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and chosen arachidonic acid metabolism related genes by means of RNA interference. The findings indicate that microsomal prostaglandin E synthase-1, believed to coexpress preferentially with cyclooxygenase-2, may be coupled with COX-1.

ABCC4 up regulation after COX-1 suppression further supports the assumption of its involvement in prostanoid transport and signalizes the importance of the relationship between the maintenance of cytostatics and antiviral agents in cells and the parallel usage of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
