A broad spectrum of biological activities of furan-2(5H)-ones (unsaturated five membered lactones) results in synthesis of new compounds of this type. In theoretical part of the thesis, antineoplastic effects of furan-2(5H)-ones are summarized.
Experimental part deals with the the study of possibilities of sythesizing methyl (E)-2-bromo-5-(subst.)arylpent-2-en-4-ynoates that can further be converted to the corresponding furan-2(5H)-ones.
