Dual-source computed tomography angiography of the heart: one year experience in the University Hospital Motol

Abstract

Aims: To evaluate one-year experience with CT examination of the heart using dual-source CT (Somatom Definition, Siemens, SRN) at the department without previous experience with CT examination of the heart. Methods: All patients were examined on dual-source CT Somatom Definition.

Two hundred eleven patients were examined from February 2nd 2007 to January 31st 2008. Results: One hundred eighty four non-contrast CT for coronary calcium scoring were perfomed.

One hundred ninety eight patients underwent CT coronary angiography. Coronary heart disease were the most frequent referral diagnosis.

Conclusion: CT examination of the heart found its role after initial learning curve at the University Hospital Motol and it broadened possibilities of the evaluation of the heart, with CT coronary angiography at the first place.
