Abstract

Infectious mononucleosis is induced simultaneously by the epidemic method Epstein-Barr (EBV), in about 10-20% it may have a different etiology, especially cytomegalovirus, rarely other pathogens. The disease has been known for a long time, it was first described by Filatov and Pfeiffer as early as the end of the 19th century and "glandular fever" was performed.

However, the etiology of the disease was unknown for a long time, until it was discovered in the 1950s by EBV Epstein in patients with Burkitt's lymphoma and was even further indicated as the main etiological agent of infectious mononucleosis. It has been shown that infectious mononucleosis always occurs in patients without antibodies to EBV, and conversely, other populations have these if they have undergone infectious mononucleosis.
