Abstract

Thromboembolic disease (TEN) is a disease that is a major contributor to maternal morbidity and mortality during pregnancy and puerperium. It is generally accepted that the risk of TENs in pregnancy is up to six times higher than in non-pregnant women and increases with age.

Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) are two distinct forms of the manifestation of a single disease.
