Abstract
All over the world ticks represent major way of transmission viral and bacterial diseases. In the epidemiological records, Czech republic reports the second highest rate of the tick-born encephalitis within Europe, 500-700 cases each year.
When the infection occurs in childhood, its clinical picture is mostly not serious. Vaccination prevents infections effectively.
Lyme disease of children can show only as a palse n. facialis. Crucial is the correct indication of antibiotic treatment because the serologic findings are often unspecific and without clinical corelation.
This article stresses also other rare tick-spread infections that can be potentially imported to the Czech republic.
