Abstract

The diabetic foot syndrome is a complication of diabetes mellitus requiring special emphasis on prevention. A number of preventative measures can be systematically applied once the provoking factors, pathophysilologic mechanisms and biomechanics differences have been understood.

The introduction of the foot care program including correct, special prophylactic foot wear can significantly reduce the incidence of diabetic foot ulceration.
