Radomir Cihak was born in Soběslavi, family school teacher. The greater part of his high school studies completed during the second World War II.
After graduating in 1947 he studied at the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague. From the beginning of his studies he worked at the Department of Anatomy, first as a volunteer, and later as a demonstrator auxiliary assistant.
After graduation in 1952 he joined the Institute as an assistant professor and department remained true to this day.
