Abstract

We present a case of a female patient with type 1 diabetes mellitus who was treated with an intensified insulin regimen and very different levels of glycemia caused by an incorrectly measuring glucometer. The patient tried to correct the measured apparent hyperglycemia by additional administration of insulin.

This led to recurrent hypoglycaemic episodes that were even associated with impaired consciousness.
