Fox-Fordyce disease is an infrequently occurring chronic pruritic papular eruption that localizes to areas where apocrine glands are found. The etiology of Fox-Fordyce disease currently is unknown.
The eponym is based on the 1902 report by G. Fox and J.
We report the excellent therapeutic effect of pimecrolimus in three patients suffering from Fox-Fordyce disease. The patients were females aged 9, 20 and 18 years.
The diagnosis was established from the typical clinical picture and biopsy in all patients. The youngest patient had lesions in the axillae and periareolar, periumbilical, and genital regions.
The other two patients had lesions in the axillae only. The patients had been treated unsuccessfully with topical corticosteroids and tretinoin.
