Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases represent the leading cause of death in diabetic population. Diabetics have a significantly higher risk as the incidence of coronary disease and peripheral artery disease.

Prevention of cardiovascular disease in diabetics is essential. The positive influence of classic risk factors (smoking, obesity, dyslipidemia and hypertension) is associated with a significant decrease in cardiovascular mortality and morbidity.
