Asymptomatic coronary heart disease in diabetic patients

Abstract

The paper describes the significance of diabetes mellitus for cardiovascular prognosis in the asymptomatic patients. The possible explanations for the presence of the silent coronary ischemia suggested in the literature are discussed and the importance of its finding in the group of the diabetic patients is underlined.

The common recommendation of American Diabetology Association and American College of Cardiology is mentionned. The final part of the paper the significance of the stress ECG, stress myocardial SPECT and stress echocardiography in the group of the asymptomatic patients is reviewed.
