Abstract

Currently, the best treatment for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma(mRCC) is combination of targeted biological therapy and surgery. Cytoreductive nephrectomy, metastastasectomy and surgery after neoadjuvant therapy provides the possible modalities for patient with mRCC.

It is necessary to carefully select the kind of the treatment according to prognostic factors, local advancement of the primary tumor, extent of metastatic disease and general condition of the patient. Currently, several ongoing clinical studies should provide more data on safety and optimal timing for surgery with targeted biological therapies.
