Abstract

Atopic dermatitis is a very common disease, which incidence is still growing. Most commonly it affects children but 2-10 % of adults also suffer from atopic dermatitis.

Relevance of this disease depends on the extent of its symptoms, frequency of the exacerbations, complications but mostly on the significant impact on the quality of life. It is of a great importance that atopic dermatitis influences quality of life not only of the patient himself but also surrounding him family.

The far-reaching management of atopic dermatitis is based on the prevention methods, individualized care of the patient's skin and the good compliance between the doctor and the patient. The detailed education of the patient and his family is necessary.

The most significant topical modalities are moisturizes, in acute exacerbations topical corticosteroids and topical immunomodulators.
