Abstract

In this paper authors assess an accuracy of preoperative diagnostic of pancreatic masses in patients with suspected pancreatic cancer, who are considered for surgery. According to these results (52 examined patients) the most reliable method in diagnostic and staging of pancreatic cancer is the endoscopic ultrasonography with guided fine-needle aspiration (sensitivity about 79 %), other imaging methods - computer tomography (sensitivity 61 %), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreaticography (sensitivity 73 %) - have lower sensitivity.

Author's results are in correlation with previously published data. There was no serious complication in the group of examined patients.
