Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2009

Abstract

The book is the first comprehensive overview of the field of rehabilitation. It is divided into general and special part.

The general part describes the individual areas of rehabilitation, the main goal of which is the social integration of the individual (medical, social, pedagogical and work rehabilitation). Furthermore, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures aimed at influencing functional, especially motor, deficit are described.

The diagnostics describes in detail the clinical examination procedures of the musculoskeletal system, testing and evaluation of motor impairment and limitation of activities of daily living. There is also a psychological examination of painful conditions used in rehabilitation and functional laboratory examination, including functional procedures in imaging methods.

In therapeutic procedures, the authors focus on medical rehabilitation for disorders of the musculoskeletal system and also focus on disorders of other organ systems. In addition to physiotherapeutic procedures, they also deal with physical therapy, balneology and occupational therapy.

The special part of the book deals with rehabilitation in individual clinical disciplines, where medical rehabilitation plays an important role in treatment and prevention. Separate chapters are devoted to rehabilitation in neurology, orthopedics, internal medicine, gynecology, oncology and psychiatry, pain issues and psychosomatic diseases.

The specificity of this publication is a larger space devoted to human motor development and the possibilities of its use in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of the musculoskeletal system.
